The Desert Season - He's Waiting

I've had seasons of incredible faith and some that I've felt weak, tired and frankly...like a complete failure. In those times you begin to feel bombarded by negative thoughts and the pit seems more comfortable than the battle it takes to get out. It's hard to fight when you can't see past your pain, fatigue or current situation. It makes me think of the children of Israel. Though they experienced incredible miracles directly from the hand of God, they still found it hard to see past the desert they were living in. Oceans parting, enemies defeated, divine direction and manna from heaven... still... this wasn't in the plan...right? They left Egypt expecting to step into their promised land. How could this be a part of their destiny? Eating leeks and onions and working hard labor seemed better than this, well, at least it was familiar territory. Yet, the desert was a place of testing, shedding the slave mentality, growing in the knowledge of God and trusting in His provision and protection even against all odds. Sad thing is... they missed it! He gave them so many opportunities to be thankful and worship Him, yet they kept remembering their past bondage with such fondness. Given the choice, they returned to their created idols of gold instead of the living God...who... was still waiting... waiting for their time, trust, love and the appreciation He deserved.
They stood before the promised land, one that was occupied by the enemy. Though, the power to defeat them was available, they again chose fear, moaning and complaining over the shout of victory that comes through stepping out in faith. As a result, out of all of the original people, only Caleb and Joshua received their reward.
Don't waste your desert season... there’s a purpose for it! Realize His hand of blessing in the midst of it... yes, right there where you are...there's still lessons to learn, tests to pass and reasons to honor and praise Him....HE'S WAITING... Isaiah 30:18 (NLT) So the LORD must wait for you to come to Him so He can show you His love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for His help. Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (TLB) But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. He is like a tree planted along a riverbank, with its roots reaching deep into the water—a tree not bothered by the heat nor worried by long months of drought. Its leaves stay green, and it goes right on producing all its luscious fruit. James 1:2-4 (TPT) My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking. Numbers 11:4-6 (MSG) The misfits among the people had a craving and soon they had the People of Israel whining, “Why can’t we have meat? We ate fish in Egypt—and got it free!—to say nothing of the cucumbers and melons, the leeks and onions and garlic. But nothing tastes good out here; all we get is manna, manna, manna.”
