Testimony of How God Used a Corvette to Launch a Ministry
As I’m preparing to order my new Vette I’m reminiscing about what God has done through a car…
When I was approaching 50 years old, I’m not gonna lie, that number shook me up a little. To make the blow easier my husband surprised me with my first Corvette. Though I was very excited, I questioned a bit about whether this was a wise decision. There were so many other things to use that money for…
As always, I would occasionally post a scripture and a small message on Facebook as I felt led. One day I saw a post about a Corvette Calendar contest on a ladies Vette group. Though I couldn’t care less about winning I did feel compelled to join. I called a friend who’s an amazing photographer and she shot the pictures that I would enter into the contest. I informed her that God was going to use this for His glory but had no idea how.
I got second place and I formed a relationship with the woman who won the contest. She was accused of cheating. I supported and encouraged her through this hurtful process and she soon asked me to write Daily Devotions for her Corvette group. I had never written anything on a daily basis but I appreciated the opportunity. After writing for her for several months, the Lord led me to start The Secret Place Daily Devotions Group and later Corvette Enthusiasts Daily Devotions. The messages the Lord was giving me became much longer than their original 1 scripture and a comment. Though writing on a daily basis was intimidating, it drew me closer to the Lord. It was do or die. I’m not a writer so I have to rely on the anointing for every word. That download only comes from hours in His presence.
Praise God after a few years of doing this the Lord hooked me up with Steven Smith who became the weekend writer (This is an entire message in itself!) and then my daughter-in-law, Bethany, who is not on Facebook became a writer for us as well. This freed me up to write my first book, Intimacy In The Secret Place: The Passionate Pursuit of the Presence of God.
So now, as I’m asking God to show me His will concerning this new car, and once again questioning whether this is a wise decision, I’m reminded that every action we take, if ordained by God, has the potential to change the course of our lives. It may just be a car to some, but for me, this was the catalyst He used to draw me closer and use me in ways I never imagined possible. Whether I order this new Vette on Friday or we decide God is saying no, it will all be good and we will be blessed either way!
Commit your life to Jesus and watch what He can do with the details. Don’t hold on to anything too tightly, just submit to what He has planned for your life and follow His lead. I’m sure it will blow your mind as much as He never ceases to blow mine!
Proverbs 16:3-4 (TPT) Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed. The Lord works everything together to accomplish his purpose.
Psalm 37:5-7 (TPT) Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly! He will appear as your righteousness, as sure as the dawning of a new day. He will manifest as your justice, as sure and strong as the noonday sun. Quiet your heart in his presence and wait patiently for Yahweh. And don’t think for a moment that the wicked, in their prosperity, are better off than you.
