After God's Heart

Psalm 62:1-2 (TPT) I stand silently to listen for the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for the Lord to rescue me. For God alone has become my Savior. He alone is my safe place; his wrap-around presence always protects me. For he is my champion defender; there’s no risk of failure with God. So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me?

King David was known as a man after God’s own heart. These two verses give us a great picture of his amazing devotion to our Heavenly Father. No matter what distractions or circumstances attempt to grab our attention, we are safe in the presence of God. He will always defend us and when we abide in Him, we cannot fail. Troubles come and troubles go, but God will remain the same. Worry and fear cannot have any space in our minds; they are all a part of the devil's schemes. Worry is like a rocking chair, it will keep you busy but get you nowhere! Have you ever gained an extra day in the week by worrying or gained an extra hour in your day? No, they rob us of our peace and our precious time. Fix your eyes on Jesus - the hope of glory! Don't let the craziness of our world determine your joy or happiness. Joy comes from the Lord! He is our Champion! As we draw near to Him, He promises to draw near to us. Promise after promise is kept as we obey God and chase after Him.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (AMP) In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

When we put our trust in God, cast our cares upon Him, and get silent before Him, we can be like David - children after God’s own heart.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (TPT) For all of God’s promises find their “yes” of fulfillment in him. And as his “yes” and our “amen” ascend to God, we bring him glory!
