Hearing God's Voice

I often hear people say that God doesn't speak to them like He speaks to me. In my classes I often use an example of my husband across the room whispering to me. I'm distracted, I'm looking around preoccupied with all the diversions of life... still God is speaking...I then begin to move in His direction. His Word says that if I draw nigh unto Him, He will draw nigh unto me. As I move closer, my husband, in this example, begins to take steps toward me. As I look intently upon Him, beholding His beauty and strength, I begin to realize His lips are moving, yet I still can't hear His voice. Finally, I'm in His arms and He begins to whisper in my ear... now I hear clearly... His love is exposed and realized...oh it was always there, but from a distance, I just couldn't feel the warmth of His embrace or hear His still small voice.  

Are you close enough to hear His voice? He doesn't love others more than you. You're not second best or forgotten. You have a loving Bride Groom who is patiently waiting for you to take the first steps in His direction. What's distracting you? Who or what has your attention? If it's not Jesus... then... who? There's an enemy who is constantly battling for your attention. It just comes down to discipline. Whose voice do you want to hear? You must crucify your flesh and force it into subjection to God's Word, always keeping Him first! 

An idol is anything you worship other than God. To worship is to show love and admiration for something or someone. If time and attention is so given until there's no time left for God... who are you worshipping? 

This is not condemnation but food for thought. Make sure the Lord has His proper place in your life. Have a heart of repentance, study His Word, and practice it. Then draw close enough to begin to hear that still small voice. It will be spoken in so many different ways, leading you through life's journey with faith and confidence that the one you are clinging to, loves you completely and would never steer you wrong! YOU ARE DEEPLY LOVED AND WANTED!! Worship Him and realize the beauty of what you've been missing!

1 Kings 19:11-13 (KJV) And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
