Burning Hunger & Desire

There's only one reason I write these daily devotions, it's to stir a hunger within your soul for a deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus. None of us should ever arrive at a spiritual plateau. You see, I don't write from a place of Spiritual Utopia but from an incredible, burning hunger and desire to go deeper and to know and understand the beautiful intricacies of who He is! The passion burns so deep within me that there are times that all I can do is weep in His presence and the atmosphere becomes so thick I can hardly breathe. It's overwhelming to feel the King of kings and Lord of lords here...in my room...alone with me!! His presence is very tangible and attainable, but the funny thing is, it never satisfies. That probably sounds very strange to you, but the closer you get to Him the more you want Him and the deeper into the Secret Place you desire to go. It's never enough and we never arrive to the end of who He is.

Even as I'm writing this, my heart is racing within my chest, He's my life, love, and passion. It's a place of total surrender because once you've experienced His presence, NOTHING in this life is worth feeling separated from Him. Whatever He wants you'll do it because the driving force of your life is pleasing Him with EVERY fiber of your being. Your thoughts are no longer about how you're going to satisfy your own needs but what can you do for Him. There's no longer room for pride because the closer you get to Him the more you realize your own imperfections. You become more aware of His love, mercy, and grace so praise and worship begins to flow very easily as you express your appreciation for Him.

Christianity isn't a religion or just a belief system but it's identifying yourself with Christ and pursuing the deepest most intimate and incredibly rewarding relationship you've ever known. This doesn't happen by osmosis but by making the decision to work on and build this relationship. The blessings of knowing Him far outweigh the sacrifices!! Don't waste another moment of another day...lay everything else aside to press in. If He's truly first in your life, how could you possibly be TOO BUSY? We may be too busy for a lot of things but time with Him must be priority. Isn't He the one who gave it to us anyway?

Matthew 5:6 (KJV) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Psalm 119:20 (KJV) My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

Psalm 42:1-2 (NKJV) As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?

Psalm 84:1-2 (NKJV) How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Ephesians 3:14-20 (NLT) When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
