Rest for Your Soul
Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT) Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Do you struggle to find rest for your soul? Is there a constant war in your mind that causes you to have stress, anxiety, worry or fear? We definitely live in a fast-paced world today and the art of slowing down is an old behavior. There is much we can learn from someone who knows how to take time out and actually enjoy life and enjoy resting in the presence of God rather than running around from function to function even when it is done in the name of Jesus. We must be intentional in spending time with Jesus and a little less time doing everything for Jesus. If all we do is serve, serve, serve, bless, bless, bless but fail to stop and fill up our "love tank" with more of Jesus, it won't' be long before we are serving with a bad attitude and blessing someone out of duty rather than a pure heart to help someone. It's just like owning a vehicle, if we fail to get the oil changed, replace old wipers and refill on fuel as needed, our once pretty and well-running automobile will become a pile of rusted junk that can't get us where we need to go. Taking care of our own spiritual needs is just as important as helping others along their spiritual journey with Christ. Just remember, we are not helping anyone if we are low on fuel and trying to stretch the last of our anointing oil for months on end. This can sound like a redundant message if we don't take it to heart. It cannot be overstated - stop what you are doing and take time out for you! Let your soul - mind, will & emotions - rest and focus on what matters most. Allow Jesus to love on you and remind yourself who you are in Him! A child of the Most High God - chosen - adopted! Full of the Holy Spirit and fully able to do all that He has called you to do. Study the word and soak in worship, allowing His goodness and mercy to overwhelm you each day. Selah.
Psalm 119:68,72-74 (NLT) You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees. Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver. You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands. May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word.
Romans 8:17 (TPT) And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures, for indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has. We will experience being co-glorified with him provided that we accept his sufferings as our own.
