What's Controlling You?
What has control of your emotions? Is it circumstances? If every time you are faced with a painful scenario you become depressed and angry... guess what... the enemy will provide situations that will hold your attention and prevent you from walking in God's fullness. Do people have control over you? Do their words pierce your heart and frame your self image?
Our God is a jealous God. He doesn't just want certain areas of our heart and lives... He gave it all and wants it all! That doesn't mean He's a control freak looking to manipulate us into robots with no ability to think for ourselves. He's a loving God who knows what's best for us and He designed us with a specific purpose. It's the only place where we will feel complete, joyful and at peace. It's only by totally surrendering to His love and taking the path that it leads us in that we'll find fulfillment. He does not want you to find it in anyone or anything but Him! He does bless us with incredible relationships, but they cannot take His place. We cannot depend upon people to do for us what only He can. It puts too much pressure on them and it's certainly not in His design.
He said He's the I AM. That is all encompassing! He is absolutely everything we need in every moment and every circumstance! If we've built upon that relationship, then He becomes the source of our fulfillment and joy. So, when we are attacked by strangers or even those we are closest to, we can no longer be affected by what they say or do. They didn't give us our peace, so they are not the ones who have the power to take it away! That is... unless we give it to them!
Don't allow anything or anyone in this life to have that much control over you! Draw closer to Jesus and find the immovable peace that can only be found as we are hidden deep in Him! Yes, He has a plan for your life and to fulfill it you must give Him full control and all your attention. Don't fall for the constant diversions of hurt feelings and depression that the enemy uses to paralyze your growth. As the attacks come, and they will come, make it a habit to run to Jesus! Instead of setbacks you'll find that every trial becomes a launching pad to greater intimacy with the only one who can give you true joy and fulfillment!
Psalm 62:5-11 (MSG) God, the one and only—I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life. My help and glory are in God—granite-strength and safe-harbor-God. So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for him. God is a safe place to be. Man as such is smoke, woman as such, a mirage. Put them together, they’re nothing; two times nothing is nothing. And a windfall, if it comes—don’t make too much of it. God said this once and for all; how many times have I heard it repeated? “Strength comes Straight from God.”
Colossians 3:1-4 (TPT) Christ’s resurrection is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority! Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm. Your crucifixion with Christ has severed the tie to this life, and now your true life is hidden away in God in Christ. And as Christ himself is seen for who he really is, who you really are will also be revealed, for you are now one with him in his glory!
Exodus 3:14 (KJV) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
James 1:2-4 (NKJV) My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
