How Are Not Your Own

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Interesting, isn't it? We have so many scriptures that explain the need to surrender our lives to God yet, most continue to live as if every moment was given for their own pleasure and agenda. Our purpose for being on this earth is so much greater! Think of the hours that are wasted scrolling the internet and obsessing over social media. Yet, how often do we hear that there's no time for prayer or study of the Word? 

I know we beat this point to death, but who are you truly worshiping? Is it social media or is it God? Is it the games on your phone, your possessions, money, your goals, career, or relationships? The best way to check your heart is by evaluating how your time is spent and what your mind is most focused on. 

When you fall in love with someone, thoughts of them flood your mind and bring comfort and joy throughout your day. You long for that time together. It's the same when we draw close enough to Jesus and behold His beauty, majesty, and grace. The more you know Him through His Word and time in His presence the more you fall in love with Him! His Word says that our God is a Jealous God...He longs to be with you and desires your undivided attention, just as we do from the one we love. 

Stop wasting time on things that have no bearing on eternity. Sure, we need time with our family, ministry, relaxation, work, and social activities, but the most important thing must be the condition of our souls, and the time spent with the Lord! Only then does growth manifest and our calling becomes comprehensible. As Kathryn Kuhlman once said, "Salvation is free but the anointing will cost you everything!" What's the price? Your time, attention, and complete surrender to His ways and will! The results? Fulfillment, peace, and joy, even in the most difficult situations because you know you are exactly where you're supposed to be, doing what you've been called to do! There's nothing like fulfilling the destiny you were designed to fulfill! Remember...You are not your own and you've been bought with the greatest price ever paid! Not purchased for slavery, but for the freedom to worship Him and do His will!

Exodus 34:14 (KJV) For thou shalt worship no other god; for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

Galatians 4:8-9 (KJV) Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Psalm 105:4 (NKJV) Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

Psalm 115:4-8 (KJV) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
