The Solid Rock
Matthew 7:24-27 (TLB) “All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against his house, it won’t collapse, for it is built on rock. “But those who hear my instructions and ignore them are foolish, like a man who builds his house on sand. For when the rains and floods come, and storm winds beat against his house, it will fall with a mighty crash.”
Knowing God's Word is not optional for a child of God. It's our road map and instruction manual for life. Yes, there's so much to learn from our pastors, teachers and devotions, but there's nothing like sitting quietly with God, studying His Word, and allowing His Spirit to illuminate passages that speak directly to our hearts.
I emphasize this so often but it's a point that must be driven home. You must prioritize time with Jesus. I guess I'm fortunate that I've spent so much time with Him over the years that I can no longer do life without daily time in His Word and presence. When you are used to walking close to Him, there's such a stark difference when life and its cares begin to consume your time and attention. I honestly can't handle life without Him! I don't seek Him because I'm this wonderful strong Christian...I seek Him out of a place of complete desperation!! I must abide in Him!!! He's on my mind from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep!! That doesn't mean I've arrived to any pinnacle of spirituality...I have so far to go! What it does mean is I know that all my worth, abilities, strength, peace, and joy directly correlate to the time I spend with Him. I'm a complete mess without Him!
Knowing His Word informs me of who I am in Him and the incredible possibilities that come from complete surrender! It challenges me to seek holiness and stirs my desire to please the one my soul loves above all else! Though trials may be evident they have no grip on one who chases hard after God!! You see... When He becomes the love, passion, and desire of your life... everything else is secondary. The world never had the ability to give us peace or fulfill us in any way... It's temporal. So, if He's truly the Great I Am and means everything to us, when things don't go as planned we can not be moved! It didn't give us our peace and certainly can't take it away!!!
Get to know your God, both through His Word and by spending intimate time with Him. There's so much He wants you to know and so much He's provided for you to live a victorious life filled with His joy, power and peace in every situation. He wants to make you strong and courageous, an immovable fortress filled with His glory and anointed to do great exploits for His Kingdom! SEEK HIM!
Daniel 11:32 (NKJV) Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
Psalms 42:1-2 (TPT) I long to drink of you, O God, to drink deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you! My soul thirsts, pants, and longs for the living God. I want to come and see the face of God.
John 8:58 (KJV) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Isaiah 55:6-7 (TLB) Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call upon him now while he is near. Let men cast off their wicked deeds; let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy upon them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon!
