The Road Least Traveled
It's so easy to get caught up with life and focused on pain and disappointment. I know first-hand. As I was driving home from work Thursday night, I stopped at a red-light. I looked in my rear-view mirror and noticed a car heading toward me. I was afraid that with the wet road they wouldn't be able to stop, so I moved forward a little. They made a complete stop, and I thought I was safe. I then heard a crashing noise behind me, then it came crashing into me. Two cars back, someone didn't notice the stopped cars and it started a chain reaction, 4 cars deep, slamming me into the truck in front of me.
It was so good to see the kindness of strangers as the man I hit came running back to check on me. People stopped traffic and came to help. I was able to go and check on others. I was thankful that I was there to pray for the passenger behind me. Her seat was broken, and she was crying, frightened and in pain.
Praise God, though three went to the hospital by ambulance, there appeared to be no serious injuries. It could have turned out so much worse.
As I woke up the next day, I must admit, there was some frustration. I have been praying and believing for healing in my body...and now... the attacks keep coming and the pain is greater. Has anyone ever been there? In the midst of the battle, it seems you've lost all hope... and the constant distractions begin to capture your attention. This is a crossroads, which direction will you go? There's one path that seems easy to take, wallow in self-pity and believe that things are only going to get worse, and your prayer will never be answered. Then there's the path that's paved by God's Word! It promises that NO weapon formed against us shall prosper! We are victorious and overcomers! We are the children of God, filled with His truth and dearly loved! The Apple of His eye!! He promised He would never leave us or forsake us and by Christs stripes we ARE healed!!!
So, today, sitting on my couch with my ice pack on my back...I chose the road His Words have paved for me! My testimony will be made greater by this minor setback. I think of those little toy cars you have to roll back and release in order for them to speed forward! Praise God!! It ALL works out for our good when we love God and are called for His purpose!
Now, sitting here in the dark by the fire, I'm not thinking about the pain or the attack. With tear-filled eyes, I seek His presence and worship Him! I'm so blessed and loved. Nothing in this life can compare! We serve such a good and powerful God! His goodness amazes me! So undeserved, yet freely given... There's such comfort and peace in His presence!
Choose the road least traveled, it leads to victory!
