The Blessings of Abraham
Have you ever struggled to believe that God really wants to bless you? It can be so easy to believe the lie of the enemy, that we are to be poor and live in lack, when our world is surrounded by those very things. Our own government is trillions of dollars in debt. We see many hungry, many homeless, many in our own cities and all across the world that live with no hope. Yet, the bible tells us that Christ died to give us life and we may have it more abundantly. So where is the disconnect?
In Galatians, the scripture says all those who put their faith in God are the real children of Abraham. Romans says the promise to Abraham and his descendants would be to inherit the earth because of our faith. Genesis tells us that Abram and his son, Isaac, were very wealthy. We must claim the promises of blessing over our lives and we must be in obedience to God. No matter how much I love my kids, if they are not listening to what they were told to do, I will not reward them. They must face the consequences.
My desire is that they would always listen and always be on their best behavior, trusting that mom and dad know what is best for them. However, there are times they want to learn the hard way. There are times when stubbornness or ignorance will get the best of us. The scripture is clear that we perish for lack of knowledge. So whatever you are currently lacking, study on that topic from the bible and other reputable resources. If you are struggling with trust, look up the verses on trust. If it's a relationship concern, find out what God has to say about relationships. What is a healthy relationship? What is a God-honoring relationship? If it's a money issue, how are you managing what you currently have? Are you honoring God with your finances or robbing Him of what is His? What about struggling with your health? Have you studied what the word of God says about healing? Have you done your part in taking good care of your body? Are there any bad habits that need broken?
Let me tell you my friend, God cares about every single thing in your life. Everything, everything, everything. He wants to see you blessed and living in victory. He did not send Jesus to die a sinners death on a cross so we can continue living in lack and be cursed. Jesus died to set us free from all the chains of darkness. We must continue to push past the feelings of our current circumstances and trust that God is for us! There is nothing that can stop you from winning when you completely trust in your Creator. Trust in Him and claim your promises for your life. There is no better way to live - you will see a victory!
Galatians 3:6-9 (NLT) In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God. What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.” So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.
Genesis 13:2 (MSG) By now Abram was very rich, loaded with cattle and silver and gold.
Genesis 26:12-13 (MSG) Isaac planted crops in that land and took in a huge harvest. God blessed him. The man got richer and richer by the day until he was very wealthy.
Romans 4:13 (AMP) For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through [observing the requirements of] the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.
3 John 1:2 (AMP) Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed andprosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].
