As I came out to my back porch to spend time with the Lord, the frogs immediately began to croak so loud it was hard to focus on my objective. I was reminded of the times frogs are compared to demons in the Bible.
Revelations 6:13-14 (KJV) And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Interesting isn't it, the correlation between this experience and the way the enemy is always causing distractions and diversions? The more you make up your mind to seek Jesus, worship Him, study His Word, and obey His calling and commands, the louder he croaks! The important thing is that we remain focused on the object of our desire and diligently seek our first love!
There will always be other things to do, housework, phone calls and messages. Social media may call out to you. You may just want to check on someone to make sure they are ok before you pray...then minutes turn to hours and still the Lord waits. He's waiting for you to make up your mind to push everything else aside. To reject the distractions and noise that's fighting for your attention. Turn off the television and don't just push your phone aside but turn it off while you discipline yourself to chase hard after God! Regardless of what's going on around you, He must become your priority.
I understand how fast the days go by and good intentions mingled with busy schedules and exhaustion can turn into disappointment. At some point those good intentions must come to fruition. Your desires won't cause growth or draw you closer to Jesus, but discipline will. Choose Him today! Schedule time for the one who sacrificed everything for you! Return to your first love!
1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Revelations 2:2-5 (KJV) I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
