Finding Your Identity

Where does your self esteem come from? I meet so many people who’s identity is based on their relationships, careers or money. When that’s removed they no longer know who they are and often have nothing left to live for. If you depend on others to fulfill you, you’ll eventually wear them out and push them away. People were never given the tools to be everything you need and they could never fully satisfy your expectations.

Our value can only come from one source and that’s Jesus. He paid the greatest price just to have a relationship with you and put you in right standing with His Father. His life wasn’t taken, but His blood was freely poured out as ransom for our hearts and souls. When you begin to understand a love like that, it makes it easy to trust that He always has your best interest in mind. Every trial is attached to a bigger plan and if your faith remains intact, it will build character and develop strength and tenacity. The greatest blessings in my life always followed the most difficult trials. I could always look back and say, “It was all worth it!”

Begin to understand your worth. Not from the reflection of others or circumstances, but from the Word of God. You are wanted, desired, deeply loved and created with an incredible purpose! One that no other could ever fulfill! You can’t be compared to anyone else because you were uniquely created... a one of a kind masterpiece, designed to do what only you can do! Don’t look at what you can’t achieve because of your limited talent or resources, but begin to believe that through Christ Jesus the possibilities are limitless! Seek Him, trust and believe!

Ephesians 2:10 (TPT) We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

Daniel 10:19 (NLT) "Don't be afraid," he said, "for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!" As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him, "Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me."

Psalm 139:16-18 (TPT) You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me.

Luke 1:37 (TPT) Not one promise from God is empty of power, for nothing is impossible with God!

Philippians 4:12-13 (TPT) I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.
