Change Your Focus
There are so many things the enemy uses to keep us from the fulfillment that only comes from a deeply intimate relationship with Jesus. It's sad really, even Christians look for fulfillment from anything but Him. Careers, business, relationships, money, shopping, family, or even sin, drugs, and alcohol. The truth is, He is the only one who can satisfy every longing of your soul. Oh, you may think that means He'll fulfill your every whim, but the desires He's speaking of are the ones He places within your heart as you surrender your life to Him. They are the ones you were originally designed to have. They line up with His Word, bring Him pleasure and as they are fulfilled through obedience, they reveal His ultimate purpose for our lives.
The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and can't be trusted. It has a sensuous desire to fulfill its own lusts with no thought of spiritual consequences. We must stay spiritually minded, studying and meditating on God's Word, living a life of holiness that seeks His heart and will. That's why we are constantly driving this point home... develop a passionate and intimate relationship with Jesus. When that lifestyle is prioritized and that relationship is developed, the fleshly desires become undesirable. The fear of the Lord becomes evident and your life's goal becomes pleasing Him! There's peace and freedom when the focus is removed from ourselves and placed on His beauty, power, and love!
Examine your heart today. Make sure priority is given to seeking Him as you prepare for and fulfill His calling upon your life! Change your focus! Now is the time to arise and come away with Him!
Galatians 5:16-17 (AMP) But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Song of Songs 2:10-15 (TPT) The one I love calls to me: Arise, my dearest. Hurry, my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one. The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, “There is change in the air.” Arise, my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place. For now is the time to arise and come away with me. For you are my dove, hidden in the split-open rock. It was I who took you and hid you up high in the secret stairway of the sky. Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice. How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer. You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.
