Be Diligent
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
So, let me be perfectly honest with you. After coming home from a busy day at work, the last thing I feel like doing is writing a devotion. As a matter of fact, that's just what I told my husband as we finished dinner, I did the dishes, and flopped on the couch. I'm tired and I just feel like vegetating for a little while...but if I would have, soon it would be time for bed, and I would have missed my opportunity...
Obeying our feelings and emotions is a pit that quickly spirals downward and out of control. Sure, it's the easy way but it's also the least productive. If I were to listen to flesh this evening, not only would this devotion not be written but my time with the Lord would also fall by the wayside and that's simply unacceptable!
We must mature past the point of living a life of least resistance. We must be disciplined and filled with tenacity. Always prepared to fight the temptation to satisfy self, instead of pleasing God. The truth is... what we think is self-gratification is actually spiritual self-destruction.
Become mindful of your choices and actions. Are you putting off seeking and serving God until it's more convenient? Don't waste another minute, today is the day and now is the time! There will always be other things to do and distractions that bid for your attention. You just have to make the choice to prioritize your time to diligently pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus and do what He's called you to do! Without first prioritizing time with Him, everything else is just an empty and dead-end pursuit, running in circles yet never moving forward in to all that He has for you!
Your calling...flows from the time you've set aside diligently seeking Him. Then you must follow His lead. There's no excuse that's acceptable. You were designed and molded for a very unique purpose... yes, you're different! There's no one else like you! All of your experiences have prepared you for your specific calling! It may feel uncomfortable and at times you may want to run and hide...or like me, just vegetate on the couch for a while... but you are desired, needed, loved, and valued! You are a necessary part of God's end time plan... and the Body of Christ needs every member to function at its full, God given potential! We need YOU!
It's time to be diligent! Let this be the day!
Matthew 6:33 (TPT) “So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly."
2 Timothy 4:2 (AMP) Preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching.
