Keeping Your Peace
Colossians 3:15 (AMP) Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].
Do you find yourself frustrated at things that you cannot change or do anything about? I know when I have a plan on how I want my day to go, interruptions can feel like a nightmare in that moment. My brain is very strategic in my scheduling and getting my daily tasks completed before it's time for bed. When things don't go "my way" I have to learn to remain peaceful throughout the situation. Keeping your peace during unwanted circumstances is a choice. We must choose to remain joyful even when things aren't going our way. Our thoughts will control our mouth. If you keep thinking about how you didn't get to do something or you didn't get something done, your mouth will begin to spew negative comments about the situation which will only increase your frustration and turn into anger.
As soon as those thoughts come to your mind, recognize what is happening and think differently about your situation. Don't allow the enemy to get you upset and lose your cool. Keep your peace by changing your perspective. Do this daily and you will begin to see a change in your overall outlook and attitude on life. Waiting in long lines and sitting in traffic do not have to be the death of your good attitude. Grant mercy to others as you would want mercy granted to you.
Remember where your joy and peace comes from - if you allow the world to be your peace-giver and joy-giver, the world can take it away; but when your joy and peace comes from the Lord - the world cannot take that from you!!! What is given to you by God is yours to keep, don't give it away because it was purchased by the innocent blood of Christ.
Hebrews 12:14-15 (NLT) Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
James 3:18 (NLT) And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
