Increase in Wisdom
Proverbs 2:6-7 (AMP) For the Lord gives [skillful and godly] wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores away sound wisdom for the righteous [those who are in right standing with Him]; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity [those of honorable character and moral courage].
I love that God is full of timeless wisdom - no matter what we need, He knows how to help and encourage us. One testimony I'm reminded of when I think about skillful and godly wisdom, is from a preacher that shared about his financial investments. He said he would only invest his funds where He felt led to invest. He would wait upon the Lord for wisdom to move an investment from one place to another or leave it be. Shortly after the market crash of 2008 his banker stopped by with a gift and said he would love to talk to him. He asked what about and the banker said that of all the clients he had worked with, every single one lost money during the market crash, yet he was the only one to actually gain money.
Wow! What a lesson in the importance of yielding to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We are to be good stewards over all that God has given us and when we are, He will continue to entrust us with more.
The scriptures are clear on using wisdom - we need wisdom on how to raise our children, proper discipline, how to teach them; we need wisdom on where to work; what foods to buy or seeds to plant; when to speak and what to speak; we need wisdom for everything! - yet so many in the body of Christ seem to be blind to His principles. Following after the ways of this world will lead to a great disappointment and destruction. Following after the ways of the Lord will ensure increased knowledge and understanding of how we are to live and manage all we are given. If you desire to gain great insight and sound wisdom - ask God to reveal to you what changes can be made in your life today and follow His ways. We can never become wise enough - He knows the beginning from the end and He knows what is best for His children.
Proverbs 16:16 (AMP) How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
