The Spirit of Discernment

Proverbs 1:7 (KJV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7 (TPT) We cross the threshold of true knowledge when we live in obedient devotion to God. Stubborn know-it-alls will never stop to do this, for they scorn true wisdom and knowledge.

I cannot stress how imperative it is for Christians to pray for spiritual discernment in these last days. The Bible makes it clear that there will be false prophets, ear ticklers, wolves in sheep's clothing, even people disguised as Believer's that will come in and slowly twist teachings or scriptures and attempt to cause confusion, chaos & division among the Body of Christ. This is exactly what their father, Satan, did when Jesus walked the earth.

John 8:44 (TPT) “You are the offspring of your father, the devil, and you serve your father very well, passionately carrying out his desires. He’s been a murderer right from the start! He never stood with the truth, for he’s full of nothing but lies—lying is his native tongue. He is a master of deception and the father of lies!

Sound harsh? I agree, but it's directly from the scripture. Sugar coating or removing verses from their context don't help us grow spiritually - period! Truth sets people free, not opinion and manipulation. Sleepy church, wake up! Beloved, Jesus is coming back soon! Are you ready? God sent Jesus so we can have eternal life in Heaven, He provided an escape from damnation. Praise the Lord! We don't have to live in bondage to sin, we can be free!

We all need the wisdom of God to make the correct choices in life, especially as the day of the Lord draws even closer. The enemy is after your soul! Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Don't give the devil any room in your life! We don't have time to play games. We need to pull ourselves together and win the lost, disciple new converts, feed and clothe the poor, love our neighbors and say yes to all God tells us to do. Defeat evil by doing good! Don't allow the bait of Satan, offense, to distract you from doing God's will. Test the spirits - discern right from wrong and fake/phony from the real spiritual meat. Fast, pray, seek His face and enjoy the journey!

James 1:5 (TPT) And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace.

Philippians 1:9-11 (ESV) And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
