Rising Above Mediocrity
The Lord showed me something in my time with Him this evening. So often, as we seek humility, we can become content with mediocrity. We are okay with ministering a little bit and seeing God's hand at work through us in any capacity. We have not put enough of a demand on the Holy Spirit. I say that respectfully and with love. God uses us to show forth His glory, power and love, yet what we are reflecting is so far below His grander.
As I prayed, I began to weep, I realized all I have to give Him is second hand. I have nothing of worth to bless Him with, unless He anoints me and endows me with it. I have no natural gifts, just what He chooses to do through me at any given time. So, now I'm crying out for more! I'm asking Him to expand my territory of influence and pour more of His Spirit upon me, so that I can in return do more for His Kingdom and bless Him in a greater capacity. .
He's put different callings and passions in each of us. We are all a part of a spiritual puzzle that can be used in so many different ways. The desire that burns within my heart is to see the Bride of Christ filled with a passion for intimacy with Jesus. To set hearts ablaze for His presence and instill a desire to surrender their lives to the one who gave His for them. Let's face it, no human can do that, but His Holy Spirit through a yielded vessel can.
Begin to contend for a greater level of influence, power, wisdom, love and authority to be manifested in and through you. Not for your glory or to make a name for yourself, but to lift up the name of Jesus and to bring as many as possible into a sold out and radically passionate relationship with Him! May our lives be lived to bless HIM!
2 Corinthians 4:5-7 (NLT) You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
Acts 4:29-33 (NKJV) Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
Matthew 10:7-8 (NKJV) And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
