Go & Sin No More
John 5:14 (NKJV) A short time later, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “Look at you now! You’re healed! Walk away from your sin so that nothing worse will happen to you.”
Ummmm...what!?? Aren’t we saved by grace!?? What’s this all about!? Unfortunately, many churches have so abused the grace message just to tickle ears and build large crowds that they’ve watered down the Gospel and in turn are leading many to a path of eternal destruction. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say that they go to this or that church because they are not convicted there. The pastor makes them feel good about themselves and their lives of sin! That’s so incredibly sad to me...
Those scriptures that I’m sharing are New Testament Words that will bring life if yielded to. Yes! We are saved by God’s amazing grace. If it were not for that, not one of us could ever be worthy of the amazing gift of Salvation and eternal life. But grace is the entryway to our relationship with Jesus and it’s also what empowers us to do His will. God has called us to live a life of holiness. It’s true that none of us will ever reach perfection and to think otherwise is pride. That being said, we have to build our relationship with Christ to the point that the mere thought of doing anything that would affect that relationship sickens us. When I’ve messed up during the day then come into God’s presence, I immediately feel it. If His tangible presence isn’t felt, I search my heart and repent. Nothing is worth separating us from Him... NOTHING!
So, why does the scripture say that something worse than being an invalid will happen to this man if he continues in his sin? Is God waiting for us to do something wrong so that he can beat us into submission? That’s not His intent at all, He’s a God of love, but He also loves us enough to warn us that if we sin it will give the enemy access into our lives and it will open us up to his destructive forces. He’ll tempt you with a “small“ sin and he’ll entice you to do more and more. As you fall into his trap it will begin to affect every area of your life until your view of God is blocked by the darkness that’s surrounding you. The devil doesn’t entice you to sin just to give you a good time. The accumulation of it will lead to your demise.
It’s time to clean house folks! There’s no more time to waste pursuing the short term pleasures of the flesh. Pursue Jesus and your pleasure will be eternal! Go and sin no more!
1 Peter 1:15-16 (TPT) Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you. For Scripture says: “You are to be holy, because I am holy.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (TPT) For the time is coming when they will no longer listen and respond to the healing words of truth because they will become selfish and proud. They will seek out teachers with soothing words that line up with their desires, saying just what they want to hear. They will close their ears to the truth and believe nothing but fables and myths.
James 1:14-16 (TPT) Instead it is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. Evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! So my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires! Isaiah 59:2 (NKJV) But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. John 8:11 (NKJV) She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
