Your Unique Purpose

What has God called you to do? There are so many gifts within the Body of Christ. You may look at others and think that they are more spiritual because of the amazing talents they have or position they've been placed in. The truth is, each one of us are called to carry a unique gift that can't be duplicated.

Now I know that as I'm writing this, there's some of you who are thinking that this does not apply to you. You feel that you have no natural talent, therefore you are disqualified from doing anything of worth for God's Kingdom. How do I know this? That's the way I felt for years. It was frustrating to hear ministers talk about using our gifts for God when I felt that I didn't have a single one.

Here's the amazing thing about our Lord! He loves to use the least likely and most unqualified.Thank you JESUS! I don't know about you, but that gives me great hope!

He often opens doors for me to speak... take a wild guess what makes me extremely uncomfortable...yup! Nothing my flesh dislikes more in the world than public speaking. The strange thing is... it's also what excites my spirit! Any opportunity to glorify God and draw people closer to Jesus is extremely exciting to me. I have a little A.D.D., very poor memory and stage fright, but here's what I've learned... IT'S NOT ABOUT ME! Not my gifts, talents, likes or abilities. It's about surrendering all to Jesus, giving Him an eternal YES to whatever He has planned for our lives, no matter how far it stretches us or how uncomfortable it may feel.

You may think I have a writing gift and perhaps I do, but there's nothing natural about it. I can't write a lick until I've spent time in God's presence and gotten the download. Writing my book? That was just showing up and taking dictation. I didn't know the first thing about writing a book and it was quite intimidating, but all it required was time and obedience.

God does have a plan for you. Prepare by learning and practicing what He's written in the Bible and stay close enough to Him to hear His heart concerning His plans for your life. While you're waiting, He is drawing you closer and molding you into a strong and humble servant that He can trust with His power and ability.

No obvious gifts or talents? Unqualified? Perfect! Now that we've established that it has absolutely nothing to do with you, surrender to His will and allow Him to anoint you with a supernatural gift that He uses to touch and change lives!

Ephesians 6:19-20 (NIV) Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Romans 12:1-8 (TPT) Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be His sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights His heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.God has given me grace to speak a warning about pride. I would ask each of you to be emptied of self-promotion and not create a false image of your importance. Instead, honestly assess your worth by using your God-given faith as the standard of measurement, and then you will see your true value with an appropriate self-esteem. In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others. God’s marvelous grace imparts to each one of us varying gifts and ministries that are uniquely ours. So if God has given you the grace-gift of prophecy, you must activate your gift by using the proportion of faith you have to prophesy. If your grace-gift is serving, then thrive in serving others well. If you have the grace-gift of teaching, then be actively teaching and training others. If you have the grace-gift of encouragement, then use it often to encourage others. If you have the grace-gift of giving to meet the needs of others, then may you prosper in your generosity without any fanfare. If you have the gift of leadership, be passionate about your leadership. And if you have the gift of showing compassion, then flourish in your cheerful display of compassion.
