Hearing His Voice

Psalm 46:10 (AMP) Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God.

Hearing the voice of God is one of the most amazing feelings you can experience. Those who don't know God may say that this sounds completely insane, however, we were all created with a God-shaped hole in our heart that only our Creator can fill. Many will search their entire life for something to fill the void in their life and continue to dismiss the idea of one true God. Until they open their hearts and accept Christ, this will not really be meaningful to them. Hearing the voice of God is not something that has to be super spiritual and extravagant. Many times, we hear from God by having peace about a situation or not having peace to do something. When you don't have peace to move forward with something, that's God telling you to wait. It could just be the wrong timing. He knows what our future holds and what will happen each and every hour. If you don't have peace about something, don't do it! That's doesn't mean if you are afraid to do something God told you to do, to back out. We can move forward feeling fearful as we step out of our comfort zones but when we disobey God's promptings, the feeling of missing it is worse than the feeling of discomfort.

There needs to be time we set apart to just be completely quiet and alone before God and listen for His voice. It's most likely not going to be audible, but it will be clear. You could ask Him who He wants you to bless and He will put someone's name or face on your heart and you will know exactly who to bless. These are the greatest blessings to you because when you bless that person (with a gift, meal, flowers, etc.) you feel encouraged and uplifted that God would want to use you for this time. It's joyous, insightful, and a confirmation that you heard His voice. This is a great way to build your faith. I encourage you to spend more quiet time with Him. He blesses us and we get to be a blessing. There are so many hurting people around us, the least we could do is be someone to shine the light in the midst of their darkness. The more you spend time with Him and listen for His voice, the easier it will become to hear from Him and the closer you will become to the best Father in the world!

John 4:24 (AMP) God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Colossians 3:15-17 (AMP) Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him], giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
