The Power of Honesty

When you go to God in prayer, are you able to fully let go of the stresses from your day or do you tend to hang on tight to all those worries? Do you have a fear of being honest with God? Maybe you don't want to be honest because you were taught to never mention your negative thoughts and cast those down and only confess the Word.

Being honest and transparent in your trial actually does something powerful! When we expose the truth about what we are going through, it is brought into the light and it can no longer have power over us! Yes, it is good to speak the Word over our lives and no we don't want to be negative Nancy's all day long but we are allowed to talk to our Father without feeling shame! He is our healer but if we refuse to even talk about what our problems are and be honest with Him, we are allowing that very thing to keep us bound. It's like someone who is struggling with thoughts of suicide, we would never tell them to keep that quiet, we would want them to share with someone they trust and expose the plan of the enemy. That is when we can reach out and help.

We've all heard the old saying, "honesty is the best policy." It's true… I am reminded of a child who did something wrong and they know it was wrong and feel convicted yet they fear getting in trouble for doing the wrong thing and keep it hidden. We have to get the courage to do what is right even in the midst of being afraid. Remember, when we hide the truth, we are allowing the enemy more time to wreak havoc in our lives. Tell the enemy, "Not Today Satan!" and shine light in the darkness. This is when healing can take place and we can really seek God for help.

2 Corinthians 8:21 (TPT) For we intend to do what is right and we are totally open both to the Lord’s inspection and to man’s.

2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP) Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.

Colossians 3:9-10 (AMP) Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new [spiritual] self who is being continually renewed in true knowledge in the image of Him who created the new self.

Psalm 24:26 (AMP) He kisses the lips [and wins the hearts of people] Who gives a right and straightforward answer.

Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
