Seek Him First
Matthew 6:33 (NLT) Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
We spend so much time trying to get our needs met. Even our prayer lives can become fully engulfed in getting our desires fulfilled. Let's face it, we live in a fallen world filled with problems. Different sicknesses and diseases are always trying to hang around our families, our hearts get broken, and sin, weakness and shame may fight for our attention. Relational and financial issues arise, complex decisions to be made, and fear, anger and anxiety may take center stage. There's too many negative circumstances to mention, but the fact is, life is filled with them. We waste so much energy worrying about tomorrow and fixing our problems, that we miss out on the life of service, faith, peace and victory the Lord has called us to...
Why do I constantly prod you to draw closer to Jesus? It's because I know that He is the answer to all of the difficulties in your life. Nothing catches Him by surprise and He doesn't have to come up with a new game plan to set you free from your issues.
Your answers won't be found in your worrying... as you consciously set your heart to seek Him....to put Him first... right in the center of your life... He WILL take care of you. He is a good Father that desires to bless His children, but that is not His first priority. What He wants more than anything else is an intimate relationship with you. If the blessings draw you away from Him, He loves you enough to withhold them. If the trial chases you into His arms, He also loves you enough to allow them into your life.
Don't waste another day fretting about the things you have no power to change. Begin to worship Jesus... draw closer to Him than you ever have before. That's where you'll find everything you've been searching for and He always takes care of those who keep Him first.
Colossians 3:1-2 (MSG) So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective.
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.
Proverbs 3:6-12 (MSG) Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give Him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under His loving correction. It’s the child He loves that God corrects, a father’s delight is behind all this.
