Finding Your Purpose

Over the years I've watched as people have come and gone from church. Many feel that they have a powerful calling but blame the pastors for not recognizing it and giving them the opportunities they deserve. It's as if God is limited in His power to lead them into their destiny.

Your calling isn't dependent on man or the doors they open for you. If we are seeking God and remaining close enough to hear His voice, He will lead us in His timing. It all comes down to trust. Do you believe He is greater than man and can do whatever He desires concerning His children?

Evaluate your obedience. Are there doors He's opened that you've shut because it's not what you wanted to do? Do you feel your calling is limited to being on stage and in the limelight? if so maybe He's waiting to deal with the pride first. Or could it be your insecurities and fears that keep you from the center of His will?

A true servant of God desires obedience more than fame and refuses to yield to fear. They always point to Jesus and what He's doing and not their own accomplishments, because they realize they are nothing without HIM! They are blessed to scrub toilets and vacuum the church because it's done as worship unto God. They don't choose their calling, but they draw close to God and are lead by His Spirit and willing to do ANYTHING that He desires them to do. They are sensitive to the Holy Spirit and everything they do is out of obedience and love. Selfish ambition cannot be a part of the equation. Even if you feel you're motives for wanting a certain position are honorable...if it's not of God it's self-motivated and that is destructive.

If you're currently unsure of your purpose, do what others consider to be menial and keep studying the Word, blessing God with your worship and pressing into Him. Also, never underestimate the power of prayer! One of the greatest and most powerful acts of obedience is intercession! God is looking for those that are willing to pray His will into existence. It's the most thankless, secretive, unknown and unappreciated calling, because a true intercessor does not look for the accolades of man...it's between them and God and what's done in secret God will bless! The greatest blessing of all comes from the hours spent in His presence! There's truly nothing like it!

One step at a time and with each passed test, He'll direct your path and lead you to your destiny. Don't waste a moment while you're waiting. Minister the Gospel to those around you, worship, pray, study His Word, share God's love and live to be a blessing. Let humility and your love for God and man motivate your actions. You'll begin to see doors open and close... strategically leading you into the direction you should go.

Trust Him He's got a great plan for your life, but it may not look anything like you'd expect!

Mark 9:35 (NKJV) He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to Him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

Matthew 20: 26-28 (NKJV) Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave. Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Matthew 6:5-6 (TPT) “Whenever you pray, be sincere and not like the pretenders who love the attention they receive while praying before others in the meetings and on street corners. Believe me, they’ve already received in full their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your innermost chamber and be alone with Father God, praying to Him in secret. And your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Isaiah 30:21 (ESV) And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
