Learning to Receive

Struggling to receive from God can be common for us. It can take time to learn how to ask for things, even asking for healing in our health. I've often heard others say, God must be busy helping other people in the world, when they feel like a need is unmet. However, scripture reveals that He is omnipresent, being everywhere at all times. Many of us feel that we are unworthy to receive anything from God so we never take the time to ask Him for something.

Scripture tells us that He loves us so much, He gave His only son to die a horrific death on a cross so we may be saved! We weren't worthy of this salvation, but His love for us was greater! When we take our children to the store and they see something they want, there may be times we say no because of our budget or because we want to save that gift for a different time. But we never tell our children, they cannot have a gift because they aren't worthy and they have failed at being a good child. Blessing a child with a toy is always a moment to cherish. Seeing them light up and be filled with joy and excitement, makes it worth the cost. Fortunately, God isn't restricted to a budget or a circumstance. He is our Creator, whom breathes the stars! Of course He wants to provide and bless His children, what good father wouldn't? Take a step of faith and examine a current need, ask God to provide. After all, He is our Jehovah Jireh, God our provider! He is not a God of lack or misfortune, He is a God of more than enough and He is more than able to take care of His children at the same time all over the earth!

Mark 11:22-26 (AMP) Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will]. For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go], so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings [against Him and others]. [“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.”]

John 16:23-24 (AMP) In that day you will not [need to] ask Me about anything. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name [as My representative], He will give you. Until now you have not asked [the Father] for anything in My name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full and complete.
