Who Has Your Attention?
Psalm 139:7 (AMP) Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
No matter where we go or what we do, God is always there! He knows what we will do and how we will respond before we even do it. He is not restricted by time. We cannot escape Him but we can choose to ignore Him. I wonder how many families are ignoring each other in the midst of their presence of one another. At the dinner table, eating "together" yet checking all of their notifications and text messages among "listening" to their children's stories.
Are we acknowledging the presence of God or are we too distracted with our busy schedules we overbook that we cannot even stop and thank God for what He has given us? I've seen several people through the years get blessed by God in tremendous ways and suddenly their focus shifted from praising God to praising their blessings. It would be like a teenager getting a car for their birthday paid in full by mom and dad. Then rather than being thankful to mom and dad for providing a car, they begin to idolize their gift and new found freedom in the blessing - ignoring their parents and maybe even developing an attitude toward them because now they aren't as "needed" as before. Now they can drive themselves everywhere they need to go. They forget who gave them the car in the first place.
I sincerely pray that we would never be gift-focused and blessing-focused but remain Christ-focused. I grieve when I see friends of the past who were so hungry for God suddenly lose that desire for more of Him because they were so enthralled with what He gave them. Pride can easily sneak in our lives when we aren't continually renewing our mind with the Word of God. Don't allow the enemy to surprise you, stay focused on Jesus - it's more than a cliché, it's vital to your walk with God. I pray for you to ask God to show you areas that need to be worked on and any areas of "busyness" that can be omitted from your schedule so you continue to grow and be used by Him.
Deuteronomy 8:19-20 (MSG) If you forget, forget God, your God, and start taking up with other gods, serving and worshiping them, I’m on record right now as giving you firm warning: that will be the end of you; I mean it—destruction. You’ll go to your doom—the same as the nations God is destroying before you; doom because you wouldn’t obey the Voice of God, your God.
Romans 12:2 (TPT) Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
