Nailed to the Cross
Galatians 5:24-26 (TLB) Those who belong to Christ have nailed their natural evil desires to his cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit’s power, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Then we won’t need to look for honors and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings.
If we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit we won't need to look for honors and popularity - wow! How many people do you know that are being led by their flesh in order to have popularity? Especially with our social media today. If someone doesn't post 15 selfies a day about what they ate, how much they accomplished, how large their biceps are, how many people they helped do something, then they feel something is amiss. Well something is amiss - absolutely. The Holy Spirit. When we follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit we do not have to live a life striving for approval from man all the time. Affirmation from friends is great but living in such a way that you aren't happy unless people you aren't even close to are sending you comments that make you feel good about yourself... is not living. It is dying to your spirit - beloved, be so bold as to fast social media. Fast long enough so the desires to please man are no longer at the center of your world. Pleasing God is what will bring you everlasting joy and peace. Do not lean to man for approval, for man is always changing. God is the same yesterday, today and forever and he thinks you are stunning! He is crazy about you and is waiting for you to draw near to Him. What are your motives for your posts? Is it to encourage someone? Shame someone? Share the gospel? Prove a point? Social media is a great tool for businesses and ministering to others but getting caught up in the drama, in the mess of others drama, feeling not good enough because you are constantly looking at the highlights of others is saddening.
God has created you to do great things and help people. He wants to use you for His glory - not for your own glory. My plea to you today is this - nail your desires of this world to the cross and be led by the Holy Spirit. This is when your life begins to flourish. Selah.
Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
Psalm 118:6-8 (AMP) The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can [mere] man do to me? The Lord is on my side, He is among those who help me; Therefore I will look [in triumph] on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
