Truth
What is truth? To most people it's an ideology that's relative to a current situation, culture or belief system. It fits a person's individual needs and circumstances as they deem appropriate and changes with time. It's a frightening thing to have truth based on anything but Jesus and the written Word. As I was reading in John this evening, this scripture struck me:
John 14:16-17 (NKJV) And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Wow! How amazing is that? The very Spirit of truth abides within us and will remain with us forever. If we'll seek His guidance and draw close enough to hear His voice, we can't fail. The enemy will lie and try to lead us in a direction that's contrary to God's plan. Just as the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, the enemy is the spirit of lies and deception. The outcome of our circumstances is based on whose voice we will listen to. This scripture states that we know Him... that's the key.. do you know Him? The Holy Spirit is so neglected by the church and many do not understand the importance of knowing Him. It's in Him we find direction, peace, wisdom and the warm, fulfilling presence of God. He is God with us! Though our Father is omnipotent and omnipresent, the Word also states that He operates from heaven, on His throne. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father. The presence of God we feel is that of His Spirit... His precious Holy Spirit. He's my closest... dearest friend. I spend time with and talk with God and Jesus, but throughout my day, I depend upon the Holy Spirit to teach me of His truth, direct me in every decision, comfort me when I'm distraught and too overwhelmed and calms my soul with His incredible sweetness and love.
Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the morning... it was His presence that spoke to and directed them. In Jesus’ day, His disciples walked and talked with Him... they heard His voice and they were directed by Him... today we have the Comforter who gives us wisdom, teaches and leads us into all truth. Don't neglect Him. He has so much to share with you and He'll take you by the hand and pull you closer to Jesus.
Stressed out, fearful and depressed? He holds the key to your strength and sound mind. He really is the Comforter. Find peace as you develop your relationship with Him.
John 16:7 (KJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.
Luke 11:13 (NKJV) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Galatians 5:22-25 (NLT) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV) Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
