No Longer a Slave to Sin

1 John 3:7-8 (NLT) Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. When we sin and keep on sinning, we do not reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father, rather, we mimic the enemy. For those who continue sinning, you are a slave to sin. Only Jesus can free you from the bondage of sin. You have a choice and oftentimes it's a daily decision to follow good rather than evil. Stay pure and holy before the Lord, stay away from "friends" that only hunger after a lifestyle of death and destruction. Be the child of God you were created to be and live a life of freedom!

John 8:35-36 (NLT) Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free."

If you really want to live a life of worth, become a slave of righteousness, set a godly standard for others to follow. Don't listen to and watch the garbage that is on your tv, phone, tablet, or computer, listen to the Word of God - allow the scriptures to become life! For those of you living in sin yet you know better, you have it the worst - for you cannot live fully in the sin because you still have guilt because you know it's wrong and you cannot fully live for Jesus because you are trying to enjoy sin - you are living a miserable life!

No matter the cost, do what is righteous before the Lord. Live a life of holiness! Say no to the ways of the world, stop sleeping with someone you aren't married to, stop watching the movies full of lust, stop desiring things that only fade away, that's not living! The more you fulfill the desires of the flesh the more you will continue to sin - stop feeding your flesh and it will begin to die a much needed death. Begin feeding your spirit and it will want more and more and more of Jesus… you were created to worship Jesus!

Romans 6:6-11 (NLT) We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
