The Audacity to Pray & Believe
James 1:5-8 (MSG) If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
Where is your faith today? Do you have child-like faith? Mustard-seed faith? A grain of salt faith? Are you faithless? I can ensure you even if you feel faithless, that you do have faith deep down inside. The scriptures tell us that we have all been given a "measure of faith" so, what have you done with your measure? My husband and I have seen so many miracles take place and we know that God's desire is for you to be blessed, to be made whole, to receive an abundant life. Note that God does not say, follow me and you will no longer have troubles. In fact, Jesus promises us that we will have trials and tribulations, but our perspective and attitude will make the world of difference.
We know that God can heal what the doctors call an incurable disease because we have seen it and God is the same today as He was in the days of the Bible. We knew someone who had an Alzheimer's diagnosis from a doctor and when we heard the news we asked if we could pray for him. No joke - the man laughed! He explained that he did not want prayer, rather, he needed to go home and process his diagnosis and accept it! WHAT!? Now this was a man in our church, who had been under biblical teachings and the anointing oh God, yet never accepted the Truth of God's word for himself. He went on to tell people, "Can you believe the Pastor wanted to pray for me!?" Like it was some kind of injustice - I'm still blown away at his response.
The truth is, we cannot force someone to believe the Truth of God's word. It can take some time for someone to have a revelation of God's goodness and great plan for their life. Yet, that will never stop us from believing and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that when we pray, we ask BOLDLY, BELIEVINGLY, WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT! We are not to be double minded when we pray, but we are to pray in faith and believe when we pray that we will receive the answer to that prayer (which is in line with God's will).
Dear one, I encourage you to have the audacity to pray, even for something so little that you would think you are wasting your time. Watch God bless you because He is good and loves you so much. Work that measure of faith, once you see the "little" answered prayers, continue petitioning for greater things. He wants to use a yielded vessel for His glory. He will get all the credit and you will be blessed beyond measure to see how much God cares even in the little things.
1 John 5:13-15 (MSG) My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion. And how bold and free we then become in his presence, freely asking according to his will, sure that he’s listening. And if we’re confident that he’s listening, we know that what we’ve asked for is as good as ours.
Romans 12:3 (AMP) For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].
