Be Spirit-Led

Galatians 5:16-18 (NLT) So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

Being led by the Spirit can be a constant war with our flesh and our mind. We have to get our thoughts under control, casting down thoughts that are not of God and meditating on those that are of God. The more we continue to think like God thinks and ignore the thoughts from the enemy, the easier it will become to be led by the Spirit. As we feed our Godly thoughts, we are also starving the negative thoughts which will begin to fade away.

This doesn't mean that the enemy stops trying to deter us away from God, rather, it becomes easier to follow the Spirit rather than follow our flesh. When we are directed by the Spirit we are being led by a desire to please God and follow Him, not a religious desire to do a good deed for the day and make our mark on the to-do list, or find a reward from man. As we are led by the Spirit we are following what God wants us to do - no agenda of our own, just a desire to please our Father. So as we battle the thoughts of good versus evil, remember that it will get easier to turn down the negative thoughts as we continue to seek God and read His Word. Remember that the power of life and death are in our tongue and we must speak His truth over our lives and experience His presence in our daily lives, leaving no room for the enemy to sneak up behind us. We will be prepared for battle with God on our side!

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Exodus 14:13-14 (NLT) But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Romans 8:31 (AMP) What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us?

Joshua 1:8 (NLT) Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
