Spiritual Frustration

Are you frustrated because you love God and desire to grow spiritually but really don't have a desire to spend time with Him? Well, the thought crosses your mind, and you know you need to, but you just can't seem to make the time or commitment. Let's be real, you can't help the way you feel but you can begin to make steps towards a heart change. Start by setting small realistic goals and commit to them.

As you start setting time aside to seek Him, make sure you read some scriptures and just talk to God. Share your heart with Him and let Him know how much you appreciate all He's done for you. It takes time but eventually, as your relationship develops, you will begin to realize you are no longer spending time with Him out of discipline but out of love. If you keep showing up and making the effort to grow in knowledge and relationship, the few minutes you once spent reading and praying will eventually turn into a hunger for His Word, uninhibited worship, and heart-felt praise!

Now let me be real with you for a moment, as much as I LOVE my time with the Lord and experience His incredible presence, there are times I too get busy and tired and have to force myself to maintain that relationship. It's hard to understand, isn't it? We have the opportunity to spend time with the Creator of the universe, actually come into His presence and yet there's moments when it's difficult to make time!? There's resistance we feel as we decide to draw closer to God. The enemy throws every diversion He can to try and draw our attention away from our first love. That's why we must be disciplined enough to overcome the temptation to ignore our spiritual growth. Daily time with Him can't be optional! God knows our heart, and it blesses Him when against all opposition, pain, fatigue, busyness, and stress, we still make time for HIM!!

Share your struggle with the Lord and as you do your part to show up and set time aside just for Him, ask Him to change your heart and stir a hunger within your soul! The time will come when He will draw you in deeper than you've ever gone before!

Romans 8:6 (NLT) So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Jeremiah 2:32 (NLT) Does a young woman forget her jewelry? Does a bride hide her wedding dress? Yet for years on end my people have forgotten me. James 4:8 (NLT) Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
