Go with the Flow

I just watched a large, beautiful bird soar above me. I’m not sure if it was an eagle or a hawk, but it was incredible to watch as he floated where the wind carried him, seemingly effortlessly.

The temptation for most is to flap our wings relentlessly, struggling to go in a direction we were never designed to go. Perhaps the tide has changed and what once was a place of favor and blessing now feels like trudging through mud. It’s like swimming against the current. The water pressure paralyses our movements and even pushes us backward. The interesting thing is... there’s a current, a wind that’s ever so slightly leading us in the direction that we are to move into. Yet, our preconceived ideas, past successes, thought processes and plans can cause us to fight against the flow. People then wonder where God is in all of it and why He isn’t moving in their behalf. You see... He is always moving in our lives and guiding us in the path to our destiny, but we have a choice. Do we continue in what’s familiar and where our natural desires lead us or do we spread our wings and soar with wings as eagles?

It’s all about putting everything else aside, seeking the face of God and listening intently for Him to share His heart, then following His lead. There’s such great rest in this. As we wait upon Him... not for things to happen a certain way or what has been comfortable and familiar, but to trust Him enough to believe He’s at work in our lives as we listen and obey. We must be willing to change directions and walk in the path set before us even if it doesn’t make sense at the time. I can’t begin to express how exciting it is to live a a life of simple trust. It diverts stress and worry and frees up your time for obedience, prayer, study, praise and worship. It changes our focus from all of the bad things going on around us to the amazing love and heart of God! It removes anxiety, gives us the strength to fight off the negative attacks, and gives us peace to not be rattled or moved in the battle.

I don’t think anyone has gotten to a place where bad news or change no longer affects them in any way but.... there is a place where we can enter and be restored. It can happen immediately as we focus on Jesus, hand Him the confusion and broken pieces then trust that He has it all under control and it will even be used for an incredible purpose that would have never been fulfilled if not for this very trial! Wow! Our God is truly amazing! He’s got this... pray... wait... trust... believe and expect!! Then be prepared... He’s realigning His children and moving us into unexpected places. There’s a new normal and it’s unlike anything we’ve ever imagined, but it’s exactly what He desires! Get ready!!! We were born for such a time as this and we are being strategically placed where we can be the most effective for His Kingdom!

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Esther 4:14 (NKJV) For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Preserve 3:5-8 (TPT) Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore Him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong. Then you will find the healing refreshment your body and spirit long for.
