Blessing Those Who've Hurt You
Have you been recently wronged? Or felt like the world is crashing around you because of something someone said to you, or did to you? We've all been in these situations and they can certainly be hurtful. But there really is only one way to biblically handle the abandonment from mankind. Bless them! Matthew 5:43-45 NIV. "You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."
When you ask the Lord to bless those who have hurt you, you release the burden that is upon your heart. You allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you and most of all you turn the situation over to the Father. Colossians 3:13 AMP Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive].
I have been in many situations in the past where the last thing I wanted to do was ask the Lord to bless someone who has wronged me. But you know what, I did and the love that flowed through me for that person was overwhelming. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is the prompt, and the obedience of God's Word is the relief. I have even taken this approach to the extreme. I had one person test and try my patience to no end and the hard part was I had to deal with him daily. Then I decided to do something biblically and pray that God bless him, plus ask the Father to allow me to see this individual through the Lord’s eyes. Wow! By releasing this burden upon God, I now walk with a clearer picture of this person plus I have been blessed by the Lord because of it!
The next time you face having to carry the hurt and anger toward someone, do the following:
* Pray for the person immediately. Ask God to see them through His eyes and get ready to see a whole new dimension.
* Turn everything over to the Lord. You must release this anger you’re carrying. Let God handle it and He will.
* Forget about what has happened. Probably the hardest thing to do but we must move forward with our walk with the Father. Let it go and it will!
* Then ask the Father to bless them. When you get to this point it’s almost cathartic because you want to see this person in a different light and your feelings are of sincere forgiveness.
Watch what happens when Jesus takes over and the Holy Spirit heals your heart. You will be amazed by His grace. Remember, God expects us to forgive but He also commands us to walk in love. Bless the one who hurt you and be blessed in return. Romans 8:31 AMP. What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]
