The Light of the World

John 8:12 (NKJV) Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Jesus brought the world great hope when he came to the earth for He is the light of the world. Do you ever notice the darker a place is, the brighter a light will shine? It's like driving at night, when it's dark outside the headlights on the other cars can be almost blinding because of the darkness that is all around.

Our world is filled with darkness, but the light of Christ will always shine and He wants to use us to shine His light! Isn't that something? That God would want to use us even though we aren't perfect, we mess up, we miss the mark and can often feel unworthy of such love. Yet, we have the beautiful opportunity to repent each time we make a mistake. And every time we repent, God wipes away the sin. It's as if it never even occurred in His mind. Now let's keep in mind this is not a ticket to intentionally sin or live in sin and just say you're sorry to God each morning. God knows our hearts, He knows our thoughts and intentions (even the ugly ones). Yet He loved us so much He made a way of escape when there was no way out of the darkness. He provided the only sinless lamb and that was Jesus. His death and resurrection is great news for anyone who is longing for more yet can't figure out what else will make them happy. There is no amount of money that can bring such joy, no amount of love from other relationships will bring true peace and happiness and fulfillment to you. If you find yourself walking around in darkness, turn your ways and find the light of Christ beaming your way. Follow Him and find the light of life.

1 John 1:5-7 (NKJV) God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
