God's Indescribable Love

The love of God is so immeasurable! I try to articulate how vast His love is for us and the words just aren't there. I think of song lyrics that describe His love and I envision His love in a way that I can quantify. The most accurate for me today, is thinking about the waves of the ocean crashing over me. My family and I love taking vacations to Florida, get us on a warm beach and we are happy! I love seeing God's creation. Just watching the ocean's waves and seeing the colors of the waters, makes me feel just a bit more connected to my Creator. Trying to understand Him a little more each day is a wonderful journey.

I remember years ago, my boys and I were trying to catch a wave on our boogie boards, there were times when the waves would just tower over our bodies and we would go under the salty water only to come back up and be covered by yet another relentless wave. I imagine the love of God in that way. His love engulfs us completely… we are drowning in His love… when we think we couldn't be loved any more, He comes crashing into us like a rushing wave, soaking us in more of His love and grace. He really is indescribable. We try to explain Him but really, you must experience Him! One touch of God can completely transform your life, your way of thinking, your desires… What you thought was enjoyable before Christ, no longer fulfils you. The only thing you want to do is please your Savior, for He is worthy of our praise and our obedience. He died so we may enjoy this life on earth and then be with Him for eternity! How can you explain a love like that!? I tell you that His presence is what will change a sinner into a saint, an unrighteous man to a righteous man and a worldly person into a child of the Most High! He desires to be with you each day, take time to enjoy His presence before you begin each day. It's like adding a cup of grace in your morning coffee. You feel so much better once you truly put Him first each day. The love of God is meant to be poured into us so we can pour it back out into those around us, take that next step to freedom and love.

Psalm 103:17-18 (NLT) But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children's children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments.

Psalm 86:15 (NLT) But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

John 3:16-18 (MSG) This is how much God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point to an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
