Broken Relationships
Hebrews 10:24-25 (TLB) In response to all he has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good. Let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.
Broken relationships - how many people are in your life that suffer from the pain and heartache of a broken relationship? I wonder how many marriages have ended because of lack of communication. Both parties still love each other but because of pride and misunderstanding, the beautiful union of 2 becoming 1 has been broken. How many families have a loved one that they don't see because of a misunderstanding or a situation that seemed too painful to forgive and has now taken root into resentment and bitterness every day?
Hebrews tells us that we should outdo each other in being helpful and kind to one another - I will step out and say that if every person walked in this attitude of gratitude and humility, putting the needs of others before themselves - we wouldn't see half of marriages ending in divorce, we wouldn't have record-breaking crime rates and homicides. Why? Because it's really difficult to stay mad at someone who keeps blessing you and being kind and outdoing the good you have done for them. Then it goes on to say, let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do. What a bright notion - go to church and be around other believers, be encouraged and warn each other, lift one another up. Don't skip church like some do - which statistics show millennials are leaving the church at alarming rates. We have to do more to reach the next generation - they consume over 40 hours a week on their smart devices - the internet and social media is where they are going to find approval and acceptance. We have to be more creative in the way we reach out, a simple invite to church isn't always the best way to bring someone to salvation. Show them the power of God through demonstration. The power of God can heal broken hearts - mend broken relationships and transform the lives of those who are lost and so confused by the lies being told in the online world and through most major media outlets.
Let us do good to each other - love one another - pray for one another - lift each other up - forgive - and always continue to draw near to our Heavenly Father. This is when we can unite multiple generations, loving one another and learning from each other with a spirit of Truth. Let's be bold enough to believe God for the miraculous and reunite these broken relationships.
1 Corinthians 1:10 (TLB) But, dear brothers, I beg you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so that there won’t be splits in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.
