Calming the Storm in Your Mind

There's so much that fights for our attention. The enemy will use every tactic and opportunity to distract us from our first love (Jesus). Sometimes it's the blessings and other times its busyness and the stresses of life that lead us astray.

So, let me be real with you for a moment. My husband and I felt that the Lord was leading us to sell our house... we have no clue what He has planned, but we felt this so strongly that we listed it temporarily just to test the waters. You guessed it! It sold pretty quickly for very near our asking price. We now have less than a month to pack and move to...hmmm....still no clue. We believe we will be moving to Florida near our daughter at some point, but for now our jobs are here, unless God opens a door. Though we both feel total peace in knowing that He is in control, tonight as I prepared to come into His presence, I felt an electrical storm within my mind. There's so much to do and so little time. Then there's the issue of leaving our home and not yet knowing the next step. For just a moment it prevented me from entering in, feeling His presence and resting in Him. Oh, it didn't last long, those attacks never do as long as we press through and place our attention back on Jesus and remove it from the circumstances. I do understand how that feels though. Entertaining just one wrong thought can quickly lead to fear, confusion and anxiety. We must resist that temptation and stay focused on Him. In the midst of the chaos, He has a plan and if we are going to understand it and follow His lead, we must remain close enough to hear His voice.

No matter what you're facing today, trust Him! The most direct route to your destiny is paved in faith, praise and trust. Praise Him even when it hurts, trust Him even when all hope is gone and have faith that He loves you and desires the best for your life no matter what the circumstances look like. Nothing is impossible for our God!

Even as the rain pours, worship Him. The clouds are about to break, just keep giving Him your attention and affection! As you do this, you'll win the greatest battle of all! The one between your ears! The rest will soon follow!

John 14:27(NLT) “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Luke 1:37 (KJV) For with God nothing shall be impossible.
