How to Live in Freedom

Galatians 5:16 (NLT) So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Galatians 5:13-14 (NLT) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

How do you use your freedoms? We are free to love one another and help others but is that how we are using our freedoms? Today, many are abusing their freedom of speech to spread hate and cause division and strife. This is not what freedom is designed for. Freedom is for us to live the way God intended. We aren't under the law, so how much more should we use our liberty to bless the One who died for us? Honor and respect are no longer foundations in teaching the next generation and a great disservice has been done because of it.

Deuteronomy 5:16 (NLT) Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Hebrews 13:18 (AMP) Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, seeking to conduct ourselves honorably [that is, with moral courage and personal integrity] in all things.

We must use our freedoms with wisdom and respect. Showing the love of God everywhere we go. Jesus had the freedom to get off the cross since He is the son of God but He did what He came to do and that was become the sacrificial lamb for us all. Will you use your freedom to bring peace among others? Share hope with those who are hopeless? Buy groceries or make dinner for someone who just had surgery? How far will you go to share the love of Christ with those God has entrusted to you? We are free because of the Truth of God's Word, we are no longer slaves to sin - bound in shame and regret. We choose to live faithfully for Christ because He gave His all for us!

Galatians 5:1 (AMP) It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].

John 8:36 (NLT) So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

Are you living in real freedom today? Make the decision to stand up for righteousness, honor and respect. Let's become do-ers of the Word, not just hear-ers. Watch what God will do through you as you make the commitment to live in real freedom and act upon your faith!
