A Shift in Thinking
Psalm 1:1-3 (NLT) Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
When we are facing tragedy or devastating set-backs, the first thing we must do is go before God and pray without ceasing. We must begin to delight in the scriptures and follow through with God's divine directions so we stay on course to triumph. It breaks my heart that many Christians will fall into a trap from the enemy then not know what to do. They will seek worldly counsel and advice from people who do not have their best interest at heart. For someone who is facing a crisis in their marriage, God's plan for struggling families is not divorce. Not to say that there aren't times it may be unavoidable or necessary, but my gosh if a marriage is on edge because the two cannot agree on education for children, where to go for dinner, and who does more chores around the house - then praise God! There is nothing too hard for Jesus to handle. Some marriages are faced with affairs, abuse, addiction, mistrust, lies, and many more types of pain. These too are opportunities for God to bring healing and unity among a broken family. But for the relationships that are just dealing with attitude problems, do yourself a favor and make an attitude adjustment. Read the scriptures on marriage, healing and attitude. Ask yourself this question: is this disagreement or this issue worth losing my spouse and putting my children through the drama of mom and dad not willing to change or compromise?
Meditate on the ways of God day and night. Then you will be like a tree planted by the water and the marriage will change and bear great fruit! For someone who lost a loved one, you are experiencing a pain that only those in your situation will know. Use this time as an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus and rely on Him for comfort and strength. Share your story with those dealing with loss and be an encourager. There are blessings that will come out of tragedies even if we cannot see it at the time. Be bold and courageous and do not allow the enemy any more ground in your life. Do everything you can to fight for your marriage, your children, and your calling. God will bless those who wait upon Him and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Shift your focus from what has happened to what will happen! If your mind loses control, gain ground again and shift, shift, shift. Don't allow anything to stop you from being victorious in Christ.
Romans 12:2 (TPT) Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
