Growth through Rejection
We've all experienced rejection in many forms. We can't expect to be loved and accepted by everyone we meet but what about those times when those we are closest to turn away from us? There's times when our love for others is not reciprocated and it cuts to the heart. Perhaps it's someone you expected to live the rest of your life with, but they left you for someone else. Maybe a parent preferred your sibling and made you feel useless and unloved. They may have even told you that you were an accident and unwanted. There are very good parents that would lay down their lives for their children but are shunned by them and for no apparent reason have been blocked from their lives.
Have you been misunderstood or made a terrible mistake and now someone's perception of you has changed thus causing them to ignore or abandon you? Now loneliness may be compounded with guilt. You may feel like things will never change. First of all you are not alone, you have the Holy Spirit that is ever present in your life. Those times of rejection and solitude can be the greatest seasons of growth you'll ever experience.
Years ago I grew the most in my relationship with the Lord during my own personal season of separation, loneliness and rejection. Those are the times that God has our complete attention and He says, "IT'S JUST YOU AND ME NOW!" Though the world may turn their back on you, this season can be glorious if your attention is completely turned to Jesus! Seek HIM for your comfort and companionship and as you become complete in Him, His favor will follow.
Psalm 27:8-14 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path BECAUSE OF my oppressors. Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 37:4-7 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
