Trust in the Midst of Disappointment

We often hear it said that if God's in it, we'll have total peace. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. It's not about how we feel when disappointment comes and things don't turn out the way we think they should. There are times when we've done all we know to do, including bathing a situation in prayer and yet the outcome or where God is leading us is still something we wouldn't have chosen and we are very uncomfortable with. That's when we need to lay our feelings at the foot of the cross and trust that God knows what's best and He has it all under control.

Finding peace in these situations is still attainable but only as we surrender our plans and desires and trade them for His. Man, that can be a hard one! I'm writing this as I am struggling with something I've been desperately trying to control and change but have finally realized it's out of my hands. Peace doesn't come from having it all figured out but only as we place our complete trust in His sovereignty and infinite love. When we realize how magnificent He is and that He sees the big picture in contrast to our limited perspective... we can finally release our grip and rest in knowing that though His plans may be polar opposite from ours, they are so much greater!

Breathe, rest and trust! You're in good hands, He's got a plan and the pathway that sometimes feels very restrictive is actually leading you to it!

Ephesians 1:11 (NLT) Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan.

Ephesians 3:19-21 (NKJV) to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Psalm 135:6 (NKJV) Whatever the Lord pleases He does, In heaven and in earth, In the seas and in all deep places.
