The Word of God

The Word of God is a powerful sword that is absolutely necessary in overcoming obstacles in our day to day lives. I hear so many Christians proclaim that they just don't like to read or they are too busy, yet they have the time to waste scrolling through their news feed, reading the latest information on social media or watching television. I'm not saying that's wrong, but it is if it takes precedence over your relationship with the Lord. 

The Bible isn't just a book we read to increase our knowledge, though that's certainly part of it, but it's the means to understanding (as much as it's earthly possible) the heart of God. It's the path to faith, peace, power and healing. It gives us directions, transforms our lives and it's a weapon against all the attacks of the enemy. 

What did Jesus do when satan came against Him? He quoted scriptures. It's the one thing that not even the devil can refute. He may twist it and try to confuse us, but that's no longer possible when you truly KNOW the Word.

Ignoring scriptures is the main reason so much of the church is living beneath their spiritual potential. Let's face it, it's much easier to yield to temptation or distress when you don't have a clear view of God's expectations or your potential in Christ. There's such depth and fulfillment in not only knowing His Word but walking it out by doing what it says. The manifestation of the power of His Word can be activated in your life, but you've got to open the Book and allow its Words to sink deep into your heart. 

Gods got a great plan for your life and He'll begin to reveal it as you consciously make the commitment to seek to know Him through His Word!

Psalm 119:105-112 (MSG) By your Words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order. Everything’s falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word. Festoon me with your finest sayings, God; teach me your holy rules. My life is as close as my own hands, but I don’t forget what you have revealed. The wicked do their best to throw me off track, but I don’t swerve an inch from your course. I inherited your Book on living; it’s mine forever—what a gift! And how happy it makes me! I concentrate on doing exactly what you say— I always have and always will.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Isaiah 55:6-11 (NKJV) Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Hosea 4:6 (KJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
