The Greatest Commandments

We can get hung up on accomplishing so many tasks... busy spinning our wheels on day-to-day activities. That's life, right? Get up, go to work, come home, take care of family, and fulfill our daily responsibilities. There are so many things that are necessary in living a productive life. Then there's the spiritual side. As Christian's, this of course should be at the very top of our list of priorities.

Unfortunately, what I see as I look around and minister to those who are hurting beneath a cloud depression and grief...100 percent of the time they have unbiblical priorities. Nothing necessarily bad, they are just living life to the best of their ability... staying busy with noble tasks, never finding time for God or to look past their four walls into the eyes of those that are hurting and broken.

Here's God's priority list. Jesus shares two things that should be extremely important to us...

Mark 12:29-31 (KJV)  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Hmmm... reflect for a moment upon the last few days... Have you loved the Lord your God with all your soul, mind, and strength? Oh, I know each of us would answer with an adamant YES!! But if actions speak louder than words and good intentions...then...? How much time have you spent seeking Him and studying His Word. Are you remaining close enough to Him to hear His voice or are you too distracted with what's going on with social media? What about loving others...does your heart break for those who are lost, hurting and heading to hell?? There are so many scenarios for what's keeping you too busy, but the enemy knows exactly what to do to keep you from your first love, touching lives, and fulfilling your purpose! It’s time that we are no longer preoccupied with things that have no bearing on Gods’s kingdom or eternity.

If our priorities would change and we would realize the importance of literally giving God first place in our lives. Scheduling daily time to pray, study our Bibles and worship Him. Surrendering our desires and dreams in exchange for time with Him and doing His will in leading others to an intimate relationship with Jesus... everything else would miraculously fall into place! That doesn't mean we neglect our responsibilities, but we put them in their proper place of importance.

Good news! It's a new day!! Be mindful of seeking and loving on your God then look around, who do you see that desperately needs to experience the love of Jesus through a helping hand and to hear about the sacrifice He made for a relationship with them!?

Revelations 2:4-5 (KJV) Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 10:38-39 (KJV) And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
