911 Emergency Response | Our Refuge + Strength
911, the number we call in times of emergency. 9/11 was one the greatest atrocities our world has seen. Though emergency response teams are led by incredible men and women who are there to help save lives... terrible things still happen in our world that no man can stop. We are living in days where the 91st Psalm must become our reality... But before you pray it, you must live it!
It's easy to quote scripture, but we become disillusioned when we don't feel that God is fulfilling His part. Scripture, though it should be quoted it must also be understood and walked out in our own lives.
What is God telling us in this scripture?
Psalm 91:1 (KJV) He that DWELLETH in the secret place of the most High shall ABIDE under the shadow of the Almighty.
As you read this entire chapter you realize the incredible promises we have of supernatural protection. It's as Psalm 46:1 describes: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. But the key to this protection is shared in both Psalm 91:1 and 91:9 (KJV) Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my REFUGE, even the most High, thy HABITATION.
Psalm 91 is not a promise for the casual Christian who is satisfied in a long-distance relationship with the Lord. This is the battle cry of a Warrior Bride. One who has surrendered all and not only loves their God but abides in His presence... one who is passionate for every Word He's written and His presence... Oh, His presence... it's what keeps us so close and satisfies the longing of our souls!
Who is this one who has made the Lord their refuge and dwelling place? It's the one whose trust is in the Lord and whose desire is to please Him above all else! The one who doesn't just give Him their excess time but their first fruit. Seeking and serving Him is not an option for these Lovers of Jesus. They don't expect Him to wait till it's convenient, but they live where He lives... hidden near His heart... deep in the Secret Place... fully trusting that He will protect and care for them!
In Psalm 34:10 it tells us that those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. He takes care of His own, He protects those who fear Him and are hidden under the shadow of His wings!
Psalm 35:7 (NLT) For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.
Don't wait until it's too late to seek God with fervor. Begin to build those spiritual muscles now and be prepared for what's to come. You can face each new trial with strength and immovable peace...If you're dwelling in the Secret Place, fully trusting in the one who covers you with His feathers and hides you under His wings.
As you know, our church just got back from Israel and these scriptures were proven as in the midst of war, danger followed but never apprehended. Their peace remained intact, doors closed behind them just after they went through. Even the border was closed after they crossed over. This was a group of strong and courageous warriors that know what it means to dwell in the Secret Place! Live ready... No matter what happens we can face it Strong and Courageous because the Most High is our Refuge and Strength!
Psalm 91:2-5 (KJV) I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; Nor for the arrow that flieth by day.
