Untapped Talents
I have always wondered why I was born talentless. My brothers, parents, nephew and grandson were blessed with artistic talent, but though I always wished I had it, it was never revealed in my life. Some think that my writing is a talent, but it definitely isn’t, it’s an anointed gift and I can only do it when I’m flowing in it. Outside of that, I have no writing skills whatsoever. It can only be used for His glory and I’m good with that! There’s no better reason to write! My husband has music talent in his family, but he also felt that he was talentless…
I was recently speaking to an artist who said something that was quite surprising to me, she said anyone can draw if they would just put the time into learning and practicing. I decided to test that concept and while I was in St. Louis for Thanksgiving, I asked my grandson to teach me how to draw. This was my first attempt at drawing an eye. Oh it’s not perfect and I’ve already learned where my mistakes are, but the excitement of the realization that with practice and time studying, I may actually be able to produce what I never thought I could, is priceless…
This has me wondering…how many of us have incredible undeveloped talent? My husband has decided to take piano lessons and I plan to continue working on my art regularly. Is there something you always wished you could do? Nothing in this life comes easy. Seek God and find out what your hidden talents are, then pursue mastering them…but most importantly… have you read books by incredible Christians or looked at their lives and wished you could achieve what they have spiritually? God doesn’t have favorites. What He has done in, for and through others, He desires to do for you, but there’s groundwork to be done. It takes study, practice and hard work. Study His Word, practice by prioritizing time with Him and developing healthy spiritual habits, then do what He’s called you to do, no matter how hard or uncomfortable it may feel. Soon you’ll find that you can achieve what you never thought was possible! The possibilities are limitless with God when you begin to realize and develop your spiritual talents and gifts!!!
Ephesians 4:16 (TPT) For his “body” has been formed in his image and is closely joined together and constantly connected as one. And every member has been given divine gifts to contribute to the growth of all; and as these gifts operate effectively throughout the whole body, we are built up and made perfect in love.
Don’t waste or hide what God has given you!
Matthew 25:22-28 (NKJV) He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
