Spiritual Growth

Serving God is never boring! He's continually molding, stretching and challenging us to come up higher in purity, relationship and service. It's called growth and it's not always comfortable, but it's such a blessing to be chosen and used by Him!
Do you remember some of the aches and pains you felt as your body would begin going through a growth spurt? There was a transformation going on in the inside and as the muscles began to stretch it caused pain. The spiritual growth process is very much the same. It's not always comfortable. There's things we must experience in order to become as effective as possible for God's kingdom. There's trials to overcome, battles to win, flesh to crucify, choices to make and so much to learn.
Healthy growth comes from nutrition. It's about the quality of the fuel that we are putting into our bodies. Likewise, spiritual growth depends upon the type of fuel that’s being pumped into your soul. Listening to the wrong kind of music, watching inappropriate movies, freely surrendering to sin and filling our minds with garbage, will delay the process. If we never get past those negative habits, it may even stunt our growth. The good news is... It's never too late! God still has an amazing plan for your life and all you need to do to start heading in that direction is... Begin to seek Him... Spend daily time actively pursuing His presence and an intimate relationship with Jesus! Satisfy yourself in the nutrition of His Word. You will then start to understand His heart and desire for you, which will help you to move forward. He will captivate your soul and grasp your complete attention. Even as the trials come, they will no longer devastate you because they will not have your complete attention. In His presence, peace triumphs over fear.
Commit to your growth process, even if it starts out as baby steps, make sure that each day you are moving forward and never backward. It's time to grow up and there's an amazing adventure ahead of you... make sure you are not so preoccupied with other things that you miss it! Hebrews 6:1-3 (MSG) So come on, let’s leave the preschool fingerpainting exercises on Christ and get on with the grand work of art. Grow up in Christ. The basic foundational truths are in place: turning your back on “salvation by self-help” and turning in trust toward God; baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment. God helping us, we’ll stay true to all that. But there’s so much more. Let’s get on with it! 2 Peter 3:17-18 (MSG) But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes! Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
