Spiritual Blockages
I've spoken to so many people who have a sincere desire to draw closer to Jesus, but there are too many hindrances to their progress. We should all have a desire to go up higher, have greater intimacy with Him, knowledge of His Word and fellowship with the Holy Spirit who teaches, helps, directs and brings comfort. Let's face it, we'll never arrive to the fullness of this relationship... there's always more, but we should always press forward into all that He is and all that He has for us. We must desire holiness, humility and a heart fully surrendered and free of the blockages of life. Here's what I want you to think and pray about... what is preventing you from going to the next level of your relationship with the Lord and effectiveness for His Kingdom?
The amount of time you are spending in prayer, worship and the Word directly corresponds with the degree that He can use you. So, again I ask... what is blocking your progress? It may be the time you spend fulfilling your own desires, wasted time accomplishing unproductive tasks. Maybe it's sin, laziness, guilt, shame, pride, unforgiveness, relationships or even blessings that are elevated before your relationship with God... if you're not continually moving forward in your spiritual growth, then you're backsliding and stagnant. Think of life as a current that is flowing against you, if you are not swimming in the direction you need to go the current will take you to places that have the potential to destroy you.
Take an active part in your spiritual progress, press against the forces that were implemented by the enemy to resist your growth. God is calling you to Him! Ask Him to reveal the blockage and give you the strength to eliminate it! He promised that if you would make the effort to draw closer to Him, He would draw closer to you. As we take baby steps in His direction, He runs towards us in leaps and bounds! He desires you! Do whatever it takes to surrender your life to Him!
James 4:7-10 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Proverbs 14:14 (NKJV) The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.
Joel 2:12-13 (NKJV) “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
Jeremiah 2:19 (NKJV) Your own wickedness will correct you, And your backslidings will rebuke you.
Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken the Lord your God, and the fear of Me is not in you,” Says the Lord God of hosts.
