Examine Your Heart

What is it that makes you tick? What brings you joy and excitement? Is it money, sex, relationships, family, sin, pornography, position, possessions, or fame? What do you spend most of your time thinking about?

There are many things in this life to enjoy, some are gifts from God and some are temptations of the enemy. Good or bad, anything that has more of your heart, attention, passion and desire than Jesus, needs to be reevaluated, repositioned, and depending on what it is, removed.

Idols come in so many forms today, but bottom line, an idol is anything you've placed in higher standing than God. It's so easy to say God had first place in your heart and life, but does He? What fills your prayer life? Is it all about you, your needs and your family? That's all good, but there's a lost and dying world out there, destined for hell and searching for answers... does what breaks God's heart break yours?

I don't mean for this to come across as a judgmental devotion. The truth is, these are questions I often ask myself, as I reevaluate my relationship with Christ. With the busyness of life, It's easy to become lulled into complacency. We need to regularly pray for His heart to be manifested within us, so that we begin to see past our own 4 walls into the streets. That even our time no longer revolves only around ourselves, but asking Him daily what He has for us. Who do we need to reach out to? Who needs to hear the gospel or just needs to experience the love of God? On a broader scale, who or what do we need to intercede for? Our country is experiencing perilous times. Though these are the end times, we can't just give up on it and hand it over to the enemy to have his way. We are called to pray, do battle in the Spirit, and have faith that God will work on behalf of His children's prayers. The future is grim for the church... But Jesus! Our only hope is in Him and He can and will do great and mighty things on our behalf, if we'll repent, pray, and believe!

There's no longer time to waste on selfish ambitions. It's time to wake up and begin to seek Jesus like never before! He will then reveal what He has for us. We were each born for such a time as this! It's time to take our proper positions and step into the destiny He designed specifically for each of us! We are one body... the body of Christ and we all need each member to do what it was intended to do.

Examine your heart today... are you living for Jesus or YOU?

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Psalm 119:59-61 (TPT) When I realize that I’m going astray, I turn back to obey your instructions. I give my all to follow your revelation-light; I will not delay to obey. Even when temptations encircle me with evil, I won’t forget for a moment to follow your commands.

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV) Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

Esther 4:14 (NKJV) For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Lamentations 3:40 (NLT) Instead, let us test and examine our ways. Let us turn back to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 11:28-30 (TPT) So let each individual first evaluate his own attitude and only then eat the bread and drink the cup. For continually eating and drinking with a wrong spirit will bring judgment upon yourself by not recognizing the body. This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, chronically ill, and some even dying.
